Alder Hey’s main campus in situated the West Derby area of Liverpool, a five-minute drive from the M62 and easily accessible by public transport.

The main entrance to Alder Hey is on East Prescot Road. If you’re travelling by car please use the sat-nav postcode L14 5AB.
Cars should enter the hospital site from East Prescot Road and use the drop-off facilities near the East Prescot Road entrance, or use the multi-storey car park, which has its own entrance to the hospital.
To access the Emergency Department by car, access via Eaton Road where there is a short stay car park and drop-off facility.

There is a height restriction of 2.2m for our multi-storey car park.
Charges to parking are applied at an hourly rate. These new tariffs now bring us in line with the parking charges already in place at other local hospitals:
When entering the multi-storey car park you will receive a yellow token. To pay, please insert your token into the yellow payment machines situated in the atrium of the hospital.
Long-stay patients will are eligible for a discounted rate for parking. Visitors can purchase a 30 day pass for £30 for one month’s unlimited access or £7 for seven consecutive days.
You can purchase a pass via the car park helpdesk which you can find on the main reception desk in the hospital reception.
Any income generated through parking will be used to cover cost used to run and maintain the multi-storey car park, whilst any remainder will be invested back into hospital services.
There is a drop off section on East Prescot road which can be used for pick up and drop off only. Taxi’s can also be taken from here.
Patients and families who use services based in the Catkin building will be able to use the car park adjacent to it.
To access the Catkin building car park, turn off Eaton Road (as if you were heading to A&E, sat-nav postcode L12 2AP) and continue past A&E until the car park barriers.
Note – this car park is for use by patients and families using services based in the Catkin building only and parking will be monitored.
To avoid issues with accessing the multi-storey car park, please use the Eaton Road entrance and park large wheelchair accessible vehicles in the Emergency Department car park.
There are dedicated car parking spaces for Blue Badge holders on each floor of the multi-storey car park. Please ensure a Blue Badge is clearly displayed when parking in a dedicated Blue Badge bay. Please note, all car park users (including Blue Badge holders) are required to pay for on-site parking at the hospital.
The following buses stop at East Prescot Road, outside Alder Hey, and other surrounding roads;
Broadgreen train station is approximately 1.5 miles away, which connects with Liverpool Lime St., Wigan and Manchester. We recommend using the Merseytravel Journey Planner to find the best route for you.
